Our Nepal trip to Janakpurdham (Janakpur)&beyond

We planned our trip in such a way that all six group members being senior citizens

having traveled throughout our long working career with time constraint with faster mode of

transport decided to take long train route from Hyderabad covering all most 45 hours by

Hyderabad -Raxual Express so that we can spend time together recollecting old memories

and enjoying home made snacks and food without preservatives which will last for all most

48 hours covering Maharashtra,Madhya pradesh,Chattisgarh,Jharkhand and finally landing at

a station called Sitamadhi(Indian side of Janakpur) where Mata Sita was born. From here our

last station of India was Raxual was an hour away. But from this Sitamadhi station it was easy

to go to Janakpur(Nepal) which was an hours drive to cross the border. We took some

Nepali currency in exchange at border which 1 Indian Rupee=1.60 Nepali Rupee.

At Shiv Mandir

Having entered Nepal around 6 pm,We took hotel rooms in market place in Janakpur which

were economically priced to suit middle class budget and value for money and after getting

fresh, left to explore our taste buds.Food was of local taste, but well prepared and hygenic.

Next day morning we started our visits with Janaki Mahal where Mata Sita"s father King

Janak ruled his kingdom Mithila .This place is where she is born and Maharaj has done

"Putrakameshti Yagna .It is is said that while ploughing the land for performing Yagna ,

Maharaj Janak discoved a golden box containing baby Sita (Sita means end portion of

Plough). This is the place where she is born. There are other temples of Lord Rama,Maharaj

Janak and others apart from temple of Lord Mahadev known as Bhoothnath temple. We

performed Puja in the temple and had local break fast with Puri and Jalebi.
